On May 14, PICC Group organized a grassroots media outreach event at Fujian Yida Food Co., Ltd. Twenty-four leading media outlets, including People’s Daily Online, CCTV.com, Xinhua Finance, and the Economic Daily, gathered to spotlight Fujian’s first kelp carbon‑sink index insurance policy, discussing new pathways for the blue carbon economy, green finance, and the high‑quality development of the marine industry.

The delegation visited the company’s production workshops and product showroom, with the chairman and general manager of the company providing a comprehensive tour and detailed explanations throughout. From raw material processing to advanced value‑added manufacturing, every step in the process reflects Yida’s unwavering commitment to quality.

At the Carbon Sink Science Gallery, the research delegation gained a comprehensive understanding of the company’s journey in developing carbon‑sink projects, as well as the ecological value of kelp aquaculture in carbon‑sequestration and emission reduction. Yida is not only a producer of kelp products but also a pioneer in the blue carbon economy.

At the symposium, Qiu Bixiang, Chairwoman of the company, outlined the enterprise’s development, the full‑chain operation of the kelp industry, and the practical implementation of kelp carbon‑sink index insurance, sharing her experience in transforming kelp aquaculture from a model reliant on weather conditions to one underpinned by both ecological sustainability and financial safeguards. Zuo Congjie, Assistant Director of the Aquaculture Insurance Department at the Fujian Branch of the China Fisheries Mutual Insurance Society, provided a systematic overview of the innovative mechanisms behind kelp carbon‑sink insurance, highlighting how financial instruments help preserve the ocean’s carbon‑sequestration value. Meanwhile, Lin Yinghui, Deputy Director of the Lianjiang County Bureau of Marine Fisheries, offered a regional perspective, detailing Lianjiang’s achievements in green finance and marine economic development, as well as its industrial planning.
During the media engagement session, participants engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as innovations in carbon‑sink insurance and the monetization of ecological value, creating a lively and dynamic atmosphere.

As the first enterprise in Fujian to implement kelp carbon‑sink index insurance, Yida Food will continue to deepen its engagement in the marine‑ecology sector, leveraging technology and financial support to drive kelp aquaculture toward high‑quality development characterized by ecological efficiency, industrial upgrading, and controllable risks, thereby contributing its corporate strength to the blue economy and the dual‑carbon goals.
